Deputy Sheriff

Being a Deputy with the Allen County Sheriff’s Office is a rewarding career choice.  Deputies patrol approximately 505 square miles including 13 communities with a total population of approximately 13,000.  Deputies work 12 hour shifts which allows them every other weekend off.  Our Office is comprised of a Sheriff, Undersheriff, 6 full-time Deputies, 1 Detective, 1 Court Services Deputy, and 1 part-time Deputy.  Duties will include; patrol, responding to calls, report writing, traffic enforcement, civil process, and others.  A general job description is provided with the application.

Salary is dependent on experience and qualifications.  Some overtime is required.  Allen County provides single insurance at no cost to the employee (when certain healthcare obligations are met) as well as retirement through the Kansas Public Employee Retirement System (KPERS).

1. 21 years of age
2. High school diploma or equivalent
3. Possess a valid state issued driver’s license
4. No felony behavior involving use, production, transportation, or sale of illegal drugs or narcotics
5. No convictions for domestic violence behavior

Applicant must be able to pass a background investigation and drug screening, as well as physical and psychological examination after interview and before hiring. County residency required within six (6) months.
